Lynette Baxter
Founder & Owner LiaisonStarted it all in 1983 with a card index and a kettle — still knows every owner by first name.
When Ballito Accommodation opened its doors in 1983, Ballito was a village — a handful of holiday flats, a tidal pool, and sugar cane running green to the edge of the dunes. Holidaymakers wrote letters to book their December flat, and the keys were handed over with directions to the best fishing spot at Thompson's Bay.
The town grew, and we grew with it — carefully. As Chaka's Rock, Salt Rock and Sheffield Beach filled in along the Dolphin Coast, owners asked us to look after their homes the way we'd looked after the first few. Today we manage around 165 luxury self-catering homes and apartments across all four villages, and the second generation of the family now works the front desk, the owner accounts and the marketing — often taking calls from the grandchildren of our very first guests.
What hasn't changed is how we work. Book directly with our office and you save 15% — there's no platform commission hiding in your rate. Our own housekeeping and maintenance crews are on the ground seven days a week, so a dripping tap is fixed before lunch, not logged in a ticket queue. And when you arrive, your keys and a proper welcome are waiting at a real office at 29 Sandra Road — with real people behind the desk who know exactly which balcony catches the morning sun.
“A holiday house isn't stock on a shelf — it's somebody's favourite place, and somebody else's best week of the year.”
That sentence has hung behind the front desk for as long as anyone can remember. It's why owners stay with us for decades, and why guests come back every December until their children start booking for themselves.
We answer our own phones and phone you after check-in. Every booking has a name attached at both ends.
Every home is privately owned. We treat each one like our own, and many owners have been with us for over twenty years.
We live here. Ask us which beach is best at spring low tide, where the sardines are running, or who makes the strongest coffee in Salt Rock.
No platform commission, no hidden service fees. Book directly and save 15% — the rate we quote is the rate you pay.
Five of us, one office, forty-two years of Decembers between us — and not a call centre in sight.
Started it all in 1983 with a card index and a kettle — still knows every owner by first name.
Twenty years of matching families to the right flat — the voice most guests know before they know Ballito.
Runs the crews that keep 165 homes ready — if a geyser blinks in Sheffield Beach, Sipho already knows.
Her teams turn every home over between guests — she inspects with a white-glove eye and a checklist to match.
Second generation — grew up filing key tags after school, now runs the photography, the newsletter and the owners portal.
“Our flight into King Shaka was delayed until after ten. Lynette waited at the office with the keys and the lights on. Forty years in and they still do things that way.”Nomvula & Sifiso Dlamini Umhlanga — Chaka's Rock, March 2026
“I left my late mother's ring in the bathroom cabinet after checkout. Annelie's housekeeper found it, and it was couriered to Bloemfontein before we'd finished unpacking the car.”Estelle Bothma Bloemfontein — Salt Rock, January 2026
“Charmaine remembered that our youngest is scared of open stairs and quietly moved us to a single-level unit. We hadn't even asked. That's why we book direct.”The Naidoo Family Pietermaritzburg — repeat guests since 2019
Around 165 homes across four beach villages, one family looking after all of it — and 15% saved the moment you book directly with us.
